The digital magic of Christmas
On the occasion of Telethon 2018, the televised fundraising marathon for of genetic disease research, the program’s CEO asked us for a creative solution to bring a touch of magic to the event, with a performance capable of enchanting and transporting viewers to a fairy world.

TV program was to be televised in December, during the Christmas period, so it was necessary to create a graphic and performing project that could enhance the magic of Christmas.
A whiff of our sparkling pixie dust was just the right solution to evoke childhood imagination in adults and transport children into a dream on the edge of reality

Backstage
To bring this performance to life, we were inspired by the techinques and also the atmosphere used for Das Supertalent final; a videomapping based on mixed reality combined with dancers’ interaction with Holo 3D digital animation elements.
Thanks to the construction of scenic elements integrated into the videomapping and some small digital graphic tricks, we once again revolutionised the perception of the real, managing to change the level and the perspective of interaction between the dancers and 3D animation, so much so that the two performers were perceived to be completely immersed in the virtual setting

Storytelling
With this performance our goal was from one hand to immerse the viewers in an enchanted Christmas dream and, at the sime time, to tell the story of the magic that Telethon and the research can give to people affected by genetic diseases.
A message of hope we chose to tell with a little girl who, immersed in a journey on the border between dream and reality, ventures out in search of her gift.
Amid spells and difficulties, aided and abetted by an almost heroic magical figure who accompanies her on this journey, she awakens on Christmas day discovering just what she was looking for: a golden bell, a symbol of joy, life and happiness.
In this televised performance the digital soul perfectly fused with choreographic expressions to create a metaphor -based storytelling that aimed, lightly, to convey a strong message.
